Tuesday night High Noon -- Breakwater Irregulars race
This past Tuesday I navigated High Noon, Steve & Heidi Benjamin's Tripp ILC 40 (Mod). We raced in the Breakwater Irregulars Tuesday Night Racing.
I didn't run us aground.
Pic: heading out to the course
Race committee chose course JHJ. <<Start at the Cows, go to the mid-sound buoy, return to the cows, and repeat>>
It was a downwind start. Here we are sailing downwind.
That's Greg Needham (my younger son), grinding kite for Makenzie (who's headed to Europe for Olympic trials next week).
We started cleanly ... division 1. Our only Division 1 competitor this week was a few minutes late for the start. They rate as a faster boat. We warily watched them try to catch us.
We rounded the first leeward mark and headed upwind. Here's divisions 2 and 3 coming downwind at us.
Talisman, Far 395. Greg and I sailed with her last week. She's handily leading Division 2.
The light faded and photography became moot. Our competitor didn't catch us upwind. We extended downwind. We further extended on the final beat to the finish.
Our result in the scoring shows us first in division but deep in fleet. Actually the software didn't accommodate that divisions 4 & 5 only sailed the course once. In the end, we had a very fast night. And, we all had fun.
Fairwinds,
Rando
